Title: Is Russia closed for lengthening now? Russian embassy site
Post by: Activatedxx on February 10, 2021, 10:32:32 PM
I received my passport today and was about to start applying for Russian visa and on the consulates/embassy website it says they are not accepting any tourists from America at the time.

Does this mean I cannot any way go? Can anyone give me advice or anyone from Russia who knows the current situation? I was schedule to go in 6 weeks and this took a giant dump on my plans of true

under 'entry and exit' requirements it allows for foreigners to enter for medical treatment - have a check - u could say essential eg leg correction

If you were planning on getting the surgery done with Kulesh and his team then you might actually dodge a bullet. I was on the fence with him before don't get me wrong but then I read up on androids recovery and it was a mess.

He did femur external though, there is no soft tissue the pins go through on the lower leg and I believe he did more than 1mm a day, 1.5 if I’m not mistaken

And the Doctor allowed it.
🤨
(Remember, is kuleshs order/allow to lengthen)

Easy 2 Blame the patient when it is really the surgeon to be blame

At same time it’s patients responsibility to know that’s a bad idea, I wouldn’t do that even if someone like paley  told me it’s ok, lengthening femur with external and on top of that over the amount per day is a recipe for disaster, I’m not sure if Kulesh allowed it or not but I know his tibia healed good

His aftercare and recommendation might be bad but I can’t fully discredit him because of a bad result that was kinda bad idea from start. Like Overdozer did external femur without nailing and has a good result because he lengthened 1mm per day, it’s proven nerve damage is caused not by the surgery but by the actual lengthening

I recommend donghoon lee tibia Lon in Korea. The best and does the most CLL lon tibia cases in the world in recent times

any evidence - yes or no?

The thing that got me worried was that Android was advised by his doctor to lengthen 1.5mm upwards it is in his diary as far as I remember. I can recall when I increased to 1.25mm per day I could tell that if I continued on that amount, I would have nerve damage in no time so for the doctor to advise him that much seems a little careless.

Android was not irresponsible, there is not a chance in hell he did not first ask his doctor is 1.5mm would be alright.
Besides, if i told my doctor now that I am doing 1.5mm per day, he would come to my apartment and take away the screw that I turn with. It is the doctors responsibility to help the patient because from the day of the operation until the day of recovery, it is in the doctors hands, that is Paley's words by the way not mine.

By reading Android's diary I understand he was advised to increase the lengthening because of preconsolidation in his femur. I guess it's a risk you have to take when going for external femurs.

Well bro i am a current Buldu patient doing LON femurs and he told me after first x-rays to do 1.50mm daily and before I was doing 1mm a day. Nos i just reached 2cm. Honestly i am a weird case as i dont take pain killers and feel no difference in pain or anything growing at this speed. I am in cityloft hotel with other patients.

Maybe you have fast bone growth so they do not want preconsolidation

I will try to shed some light on this discussion vis-a-vis distraction amount.

When doing external lengthening, each leg usually has three all-threads (all-threads are very long bolts without a head) that connect concentric metal rings that surround your leg.  These rings are attached with screws through your leg meat into your bones.  Move the rings and you move your leg bones.

To accomplish distraction, you turn bolts on each all-thread which creates more distance between the broken ends of your bones.

Because you have three all-threads working together, it is very common to be instructed to adjust a specific all-thread by 1.5mm while adjusting others by a different amount.  This is done to keep good bone alignment during distraction.

HOWEVER, adjusting one or all of your all-threads by 1.5mm does not mean that you achieve 1.5mm of distraction.  The all-threads flex and torque; the body fights the adjustment, etc.

This is why you get x-rays every week--to know and evaluate your actual distraction progress.

When I was going through the process, I met with Dr. Kulesh or a member of his team about 3X per week.  We constantly discussed things like progress and distraction amount.

I was also with Android during his experience.  Things seemed to be going fine one day; then, a problem arose.  A common intervention when a problem arises is to reduce distraction to the last point where things were fine.

So far as I know, this intervention was applied in Android's case.  I never learned what specifically caused his problem or how things came out but I hope he is doing well and has recovered.

I do NOT believe anyone was doing anything crazy in Android's case.  Problems can and will arise with lengthening surgery.  You would do well to ensure your surgical team is sufficiently experienced to deal with problems when they arise.
