Is anyone interested in purchasing my used monorail mitkovic fixators. Im having a clear out but I don't want to throw them away or put in a box for years to come that I will forget about
I have 2 fixators and nearly all the pins minus 1 or 2
I know some may just like the novelty of owning a piece of early ll history :) before all the million new types of inventions became available
Any offers????
-
Lol. What general price range are we talking about? Can you post some pics? Maybe Ripley's Beleieve It Or Not or some museum might be interested.
-
I wonder if Dr. Mitkovic will perform operation on you with discounted price if you buy the fixators from ant and take them with you. :P
-
It's an intriguing offer for a piece of history (an alternate history I never got to live). I just wish I had a place to put them. My place is so full of stuff as it is.
-
That's the thing lads. To me, these fixators changed my life in so many ways. I feel a great deal of attachemnet to them. It almost feels like Im selling a lung but as I said its something that someone can have a five minute play with and store away for the future . It still brings a sense of warmth just looking at them. My leg lengthening journey was a total nightmare and very hard at times and I just feel I need to sell them to bring it all to a end and so I can start a new chapter in my life. I just cant bring myself to throw them away and to store them just doesn't feel right. I owe these fixators a lot. Without the mitkovoic treatment I feel I would have totally gone medically insaine.
My diary is still on old forum , and will be for along time Id imagine.
Some people collect stamps, cards, books and other stuff that others see as a total waste of time and money. The fixators are in that category. To most people they are rubbish/trash and should be binned but to some they are genuine ll history that they can keep for themselves
-
Just looked over the fixators
1 fixator is for femur and the other fixator is for tibia
makes it a bit more of a bargain I guess

You used ilizarovs didn't you mate?? Think I remember you from old forum ??

I went to Serbia first but things didn't work out. It was one of the biggest disappointments of my life.

Hi Ant,
Did you ever discuss with Dr Mitkovic the greater possibility of misalignment with monorails compared to ring fixators? As I understand it there's greater risk of that happening with monorails, making the possibility of developing early arthritis slightly higher than with the ring fixators.
-
The monorail is very easy to adjust to realign bones. Ilizarov fixator is more stable but if you use crutches then monorail is more than ok for stability
I believe that the ilizarov technique is the worst possible device because of all the soft tissue damage when the wires pass all the way through the leg. Its soft tissue that doesn't recover. The bone will heal properly with any device but the more wires/cables is what caused all my problems with infection/pain etc
-
Hi Ant,
do you think is easy to hide mitkovic device under the trousers?
cheers
-
Ant, whats your opiniĆ³n about Mitkovic external fixator in femur?, did you wear them? can you tell us your experience with them?
what about the recovery of the others patients of dr mitkovic? do you know if they can run , walk and jump ok? have they got any problems? thank you

Since the wires dont go through he muscles, at least from what i was told, the soft tissue will definitely recover from the pin sites. So you will heal just as much with an Ilizarov device as you would with a monorail device. It might take a bit longer though because of more pins.

yes it is easy to hide under baggy trousers

With ilizarov ,
The wires are through the bone but over time during lengthen the skin starts to rip in snake lines. Ive got skin stuck to my bone still in places. Ive had a wire that pulled on my calf muscle and has caused a big dent in my calf. I had wires through my knees and come out through the back that has caused damage to my tendons in the back of my knee
I had wires through my ankles that have damaged the muscle and ankle tendons.
I had a wire through my muscle right in the middle of my leg at the front, think its called fascia muscle or something that has caused a rip in the muscle that has joined with scar tissue that is not flexible. scar tissue is not flexible like soft tissue, at times I can feel the scar tissue ripping even more.
The tendons in the back of my knee are not smooth now, they seem very rough and bobbled

after ilizarovs
-
femur and tibia monorail
-
see the skin and soft tissue already getting damaged
-
ilizarov or monorail. monorail all the way, nice small and not like these hideous frames
-
nice and small monorails

tendon lengthening with monorail

my beautiful wife, used to post as Ticky on old forum for all those of you who may have spoken to her

putting a face to my name. a pic of me

hmm, i have none of those problems, but then i have a different kind of ilizarov frame compared to the regular type. It seems different doctors place the wires at slightly different spots too.

Yeah, my pins did not pass through any soft tissue, just the skin and bone.

In the tendon photo you have a very big scar. Did ilizarov fixator make it?

When I lengthened with the ilizarov fixator my tendons did not lengthen enough. I had to have tendon lengthening surgery z plasty
-
Come on guys!!!!!
some body buy them..
I expected to be a millionaire by now, :'(
-
Did you lengthen twice?
I see fixators on both tibias and femurs? If so, didn't know that was possible.
-
interesting.

I lengthened tibias in india with ilizarov technique. I had bad miss alignment and incorrect tibia lengths
I then went to Serbia and mitkovic corrected my tibias with monorail
4 weeks later he performed femur lengthening with monorails
4 weeks later again he performed z plasty Achilles tendon lengthen, secured by add on fixator to tibia fixators
I came home and then 1 year I returned to Serbia for another final correction to my right tibia with monorail again
-
Hi Ant did you go to Dr. Chaudhary in Akola for your ilizarov?

Thank you for clearing this up Ant. I thought you were not going to come back and I made a post wondering if it were possible to lengthen twice because I assumed you lengthened twice. I had no idea that you originally went to India and ended up with a bad misalignment and incorrect tibias. I am sorry about your experience in India. I have heard nothing but horror stories regarding the doctors there and I am glad that I made the choice not to go their after realizing many of the supposed success stories were either altered or completely made up for beneficial gain. Hopefully you have recovered and are now moving on with your life despite the setbacks that have occurred.

The fixators are still available guys..
no stamp collectors or aeroplane spotters here then :)

Weren't you supposed to return the devices to Dr. Mitkovic? Anyway, you never replied to someone else's earlier question in the thread on how much you are selling them for?
