Question out of curiosity
« on: August 19, 2023, 03:07:00 AM »

What is the average height of LL prospective patients? And what height range do you guys think benefits the most from LL?

I been on this forum for quite a while. I would say anything from like 158 / 5'2 to 178 / 5'10 is what I have gathered of people actually exposing their height. Doing LL at 5'10 /178+ cm in reality barely gives you any advantages in life unless maybe a little bit in the US, since that is where heightism is worst. But here in Denmark as an example we get measured with shoes, and everybody say their height in shoes so that would make you just about 6'0 /182 cm from 5'10 / 178 cm. I would say that the best bang for your buck is our heights at about 167 cm / 5'6 to 175 cm / 5'9 . Since you go from short to average. And then in shoes outside your house you will be almost 5'11 / 180 cm. I at least always wear thick shoes since I walk better in those and they last longer. This will make almost all women not have a problem with your height except the very shallow ones that simply only desires men who are at least 2 heads taller than them. (pathetic lol)  Because if your're 158 cm / 5'2 even after doing femurs and doing a little more probably than what is safe, you will end up at 5'5 / 165 cm what is still short but not by the extreme anymore. At this level some women will still be interested but it's stil a disadvantage with the height however with 158 cm it's almost impossible, so still worth it if your're that short.

I see I'm 167 cm on a good day and I get treated poorly a lot of the times by taller guys at college who get all the female attention too. I can't imagine myself living at this height I'd honestly rather take my life than stay at this height.

Hi @ Mezo

With respect, It sounds as if your going through a hard time at the moment.

College years are quite the transitional period and do appear easier for some compared to others.

You would be surprised how working on your self-esteem and not dwelling on others can drastically improve one's outlook.

Height does play a role, but by all means it is not the be all and end all. Plenty of people live fruitful lives at all different heights, disabilities and social economic circumstances.

If you feel height is truly the sole purpose of your unhappiness then you should now find solace in knowing there is a solution. Sure, your circumstances may not be able to provide the surgery instantly. However you now have a goal to strive towards.

Maybe consider to speak with a loved one and disclose your anguish. As I can ensure you the destruction left behind by suicide will scar them more then you can imagine.

Consider taking a break from the forum as it can be an echo chamber and exacerbate existing negative views.

All the best

Honestly save up 20-30k and do LON. Don't waste your prime years saving up megabucks for an internal nail and a western doctor, you need to take action now, or at least very soon.

Russia and Vietnam are options, maybe a few other places too.

In generel my advice is do an internal method if you have a decent income the benefits outweights the exstra costs. However in this case where it isn't possible, and your're suicidal, because of your height I would also advice to go with LON, maybe femur (8 cm ish gain) for the most bang for your buck, but doing LON on tibias is a bit safer (5 cm ish gain) since it usually still gives a decent outcome with minimal serious complications, (if you go to the better clinics) even tho your're still running a higher risk than an internal method. I can vouch for AFA in turkey. From my research going to either Vietnam or India for LL is a bad choice with many bad outcomes. Parihar is a pretty good surgeon in India but I don't know if he still offers LON. Turkey is a place with many bad clinics as well but the one I have heard the best about is AFA with some positive stories and no negative ones. They also clean up the pinsites every second day to absolute minimize infections that LON patients usually get, not all clinics does this regularly. The entire cost with everything: accomadation, food, hotel, x-ray, psychiotherapy all in one center would be like 40000 dollars ish, which isn't bad value for money in my opinion.

Whatever you do avoid WannaBeTaller and LiveLifeTaller in Turkey as well. They're so many bad outcomes and stories on this forum!

Just click on "Limb Lengthening Patients Experiences" on the front page, and you can read some new bad stories about those places for yourself.

You vouch for docs without any basic research... When you say you researched about AFA, what was this research? Just like with giotikas who you claimed has "decades of experience with ll" which is completely false (a basic read of his CV disapprove your claim). Stop speaking out of your ass.
BTW, I am not saying giotikas is a bad choice and neither is AFA only that you keep telling people on here what to do based on absolutely nothing but your own beliefs and thoughts

Believe whatever you want about my research I dont care. How about you actually help this guy instead of spreading false negativity about me? And you clearly read my earlier messages wrong. Dr. Giotikas has decades of experience with tasks that are way more demanding than LL. I pretty sure I have never said that he has 20 years of experience with LL. Even if so It must have been a typing mistake. I have done more than years of research gathering as much information as possible, and honestly I'm not going to waste my time justifying why I can help this guy, for some random negative guy that have nothing better to do than hate on someone trying to help someone...

College is not a forest where everyone glorifies the 'biggest one' as a king.
I am only 162cm and everyone treats me well in college, even though I am neither handsome nor one of those 'All As' students.
Height is playing a smaller and smaller role in how others treat you after you get into a college.

If you want to help the guy:

1) don't recommend lon femurs

2) don't try and help some suicidal Egyptian 168cm tall guy. Better to ignore these kind of folks for their and your own well being.

I would like to add that I am currently on vacation in istanbul with my GF and my height neurosis is much calmer since turkish men and women (even young generation) are much shorter on average than other western countries. I feel a strong male average being 171cm tall here (even walking barefoot while visiting the mosques). I added that anecdote because I am tired of all the psycotics (like this Egyptian OP) feeling short and suicidal while they shouldn't.
