thank you.. i havent made a decision where yet.. im just looking around and havent even read any diaries yet from his place. maybe one guy he has the same problem you mention. thanx for the tip.. i would look more into it for sure.

Tibike said it, but you're welcome.

btw, I've been thinking of telling every new girl I meet about my leg lengthening and video recorded, then post it here so you guys can see how they react to it...i think it would be interesting lol once i told a girl from the club and told her i was abducted by russians and they stretch my legs 4 inches hahaha.. i ended up taking this girl home, she was so interested, well she wanted to work for CIA you figure...

That's funny.

When I was in college my roommate had a broken ankle. I stole his crutches and went to the bar several times with them.

"I got attacked by my cat. Don't laugh! He's mean"

"I broke my ankle running from the cops. I'm a wanted man. Shhhh...it's our secret"

"Be a doll and go buy me a drink. Are you a mean girl that would make a cripple have to walk?"

"I'm not supposed to drink with my pain killers. If it f*cks me up, do you promise to take me home and take good care of me?"

Man, those were the days...

As today life post LL is still good.. I'm still an idiot for not fixing my leg yet.. but I'm still waiting for doctor Alexander Barinov to let me know when he can operate me in Czech republic. At this point i would not recommend anyone to go to him just because of the problem I have now and how long my problem is taking to be fixed. They handled my visa situation badly and now I'm stocked with this problem. I would like to think they are doing their best but honestly I don't think is enough. I feel bad saying this since they were always good to me while I was at the clinic. Unfortunately the facts are the facts.

9 Cm in the tibia was a lot, but you're really strong to push your body through it

I thought you had insurance now and could get it fixed by a specialist here in the US that you had gone to see earlier this year. Did you not feel comfortable with that US specialist Dr? If your insurance will cover the cost of the corrective surgery I would say you should give very strong consideration to Dr. Paley for your tibia correction. I know you said only needed left leg corrected, but I think Paley's standards are pretty high and he'd straighten both legs and you'd end up very happy with your final result.

Anyway, for now your loving life which is great. Your game definitely is inspiring. Do you mostly work your pickup IRL or do you do much online? Was hoping you had a suggestion for learning better online game.

Hi Rgkey,

Hope you are doing fine my friend.

What does Sir Barinov say about this incident?
Does he marked a date for you yet or has he been stalling time.

How is recovery going after all these years?

I assume you are near 100%?

Could you give me a good update,
I am planning to go with Dr Barinov in 2017/2018.

Have a good day!

Arch your homeboy

I do not recommend anyone to go to Dr. Barinov at Clinic Davincci in Volgograd Russia from my own personal experience. They have failed in resolving my issue, it's been awhile now with this leg issue I have. I love them but the facts are the facts. Ill keep you all updated if there is any response from them.

So far:

I have a crooked left leg (pretty bad shape)
Right leg is not great.
I feel Stiffness every day and stretch every day as well. I feel pain on my left knee. Muscle pain in both legs. Can not run at all.
Ancle stifness as well. Overall Im fu**ked lol
I hurt my lower back 2 times already, my doctor said it might be related to my legs. So there you go.

Good news is Im happy, Life is good, met the love of my life!!! finally!! she stretches me every day. and she is hot lol
We will se how everything develops.

I know A lot of you guys want to go to Dr. Barinov. and as much as I like him. How can I recommend someone for something so important like leg lengthening to him, when my results are not good. I gave them a lot of time for them to fix this situation but it will be 3 years soon since I left Russia. Having a crooked leg due to medical negligent shouldn't be taken as joke.
I consulted with Dr. Pili and Dr. Catagni, both of them told me that both of my legs need to be fixed. And both agree that my left leg should be fixed immediately.

Antonina (someone who works for Dr. Barinov I believe) Has contacted. She seems concern and claims she will help my situation. We will see. I will keep you guys updated.

warm regards,

RGKEY

Well if you say it is easy to blame the patient then by this logic it is equally easy to blame the doctor/clinic. You have no knowledge of the clinic in Volgograd, you have never been here. You have simply read a one-sided diary on the internet. If a patient is fed-up and depressed and insists the doctor remove the frames the doctor cannot force them to stay in Russia. For how long??  4 months, 6???

Here is a good example of how some patients behave at the clinic to give some context as to why I write. Two patients were lengthening at the clinic and the doctor told them to stop at 6cm. The doctor’s would not treat them if they continued to lengthen and even took away the lengthening keys. The patients left the clinic, got an apartment nearby and went to the hardware store and bought a spanner so that they could turn the screws themselves and continue lengthening without any medical supervision. They lengthened to 11cm and 12cm respectively on their tibias. They then returned to the clinic weeks later and expected the doctor’s to correct what had clearly gone wrong. They could barely move! They became severely depressed but the doctor’s still took care of them as best they could.
Another patient made absolutely no effort after surgery and refused to walk in any way for weeks, and did not stop complaining of the pain. Of course there is pain!!  Another patient wanted the doctor to take the frames off one day after surgery, saying he didn’t want to go through with it. The doctors said that he would have to wait at least three weeks before they could put a cast on his legs. Other patients would criticise the doctor’s as if they knew more about the procedure than them.

In truth, a number of patient’s undergo this procedure without researching what it entails. The only ‘research’ they do is reading these diaries. A number of patients (not all) also have varying degrees of personality/psychological disorders and other underlying forms/degrees of mental illness.

In the consultation before surgery, the doctors actually ask the patient to sign a disclaimer that the clinic can not be held responsible if the patient does not follow the doctor’s advice.

I know for a FACT that the doctor advised RGkey to stop at 6cm - he states this himself in his diary. He also states on numerous occasions how happy he is that he chose this doctor.
I had a look through his diary and have copied a number of quotes…

‘…you have no idea, I am so freaking lucky dude’  ‘I lengthened 9cms happily, ‘I love this girl Oxana, general manager of the clinic, I don’t have enough good words for her,so much love for her …I should have stopped at 8, I went over my physical limits, that last centimetre nearly killed me but Igot  9CM!!...the doctor here really prioritises your health which I think really should be number 1…if you are completely sure you want to go through with LL then choose this place…I don’t regret my decision even in my darkest moments, I would do it all over again…here in Volgograd doctors will tell you what to do but they will not force you…people get fked up because they did whatever the fk they wanted to do and not because the doctors are bad…do not rely purely on what people put in their diaries…(happy the doctors) offer a quick solution to my problems…if you were my family, my brother, my best friend and you decided to do LL I would force you to come here, that’s how much I love this place…Barinov, he is a master at what he does…after 8 hours walking, for the doctor to give me a compliment means a lot…I didn’t want to change these pins but Dr Barinov didn’t want me to risk anything, he always looks out for me, I love him!...I had hours of talk with Barinov about LL so most of what I know is from him, he is my source of knowledge…would I do it again? Yes, absolutely yes!... I might come back for my femurs, Dr Barinov told me I could do 5cm without complications!...i’m the luckiest motherfker alive, i’m’ so glad I did leg lengthening!!...I would do it all over again, I would choose the same doctor…

Re frame removal The doctor advised the patient that if he wanted to remove the frames then he would need to use crutches at ALL times…

Quote March 28 2014 - my legs are not fully consolidated but they can handle my weight and in a week the doctor will check if they are strong enough to walk without frames, fingers crossed now! 01/04/14, hopefully my legs won’t collapse, if they do life is life, no-one put a gun to head and forced me to do LL.. I feel I can walk with no problem now but doctor told me I must use crutches for 2 weeks, it is really annoying!!!!!!! this morning the doctor saw me walking with only one crutch and he got mad((( he told me that if I don’t use crutches my bone can bend and the correction I had can go off, and it wont look straight, so now I'm using crutches just because my doctor advice me so. I must be patient; I have gone so far to spoil my recovery for my stupidity…it is really annoying to walk with crutches!!! I will ask my doctor to check my legs on Monday, maybe I don’t need to wait another week, maybe my left leg is strong enough..  I think the correction of my left leg has moved just a little bit. I think it was my bad thou, I walked sometimes without crutches, I can only blame my self for that. But I don’t think is that noticeable.
April 18/02/014,Poster, why did he remove the frames, did you insist?
my legs were fine for walking but not 100% stable, I had 2 options he told me, keep the frames or remove them and walk with crutches. So I chose crutches of course!))
my last X-ray yes. everything was just ok to removed frames. he said that my consolidation was able to support all my weight vertically, but if I don’t use crutches, with movement they can bend to the side a little.
April 19 2014 So in this pictures I’m wearing 3.5cms lifts, plus the base of the shoe, today I am dating two girls! My legs hurt like a bitc*!!! especially after walking with lifts, my walking sucks!!! I need to start walking without lifts until I recover enough I guess,…must stop wearing lifts…
Thanx Sysop)) he said it (bowing) might be the muscle and also maybe the alignment moved a little bit. I know it was my mistake for walking many times without crutches when I wasn't supose to((((
Dec 2014 I was very lucky to end up in a good place…
Deathorb March 2015 Hello rgkey, I am in Volgograd at the same clinic. Could you answer two questions?
Why did you go against the doctors orders to come back to the USA? Was it depression or lack of sleep or something else? You appeared to have a good time in the clinic but also wanted to leave. And I believe you never got your own apartment, perhaps that would have been a nice change…’

Obviously there is now an issue with fixing his bowed leg.

It is not fair or accurate to slander Dr Barinov or the clinic on an anonymous internet forum.  It is easy to say you do not recommend Dr Barinov - well I certainly do. So that balances that out!!

You should retract and apologise for such a cheap, nasty and baseless slander.

Dr Barinov treats 100’s of correction patients (mostly Russian females) every year as well as leg lengthening patients. He is an excellent surgeon and staff at the clinic - nurses, related hospital and admin staff - work very hard to achieve positive results and are dedicated to their work.  Not every patient in any way chooses to write a diary. They strive to enjoy the journey and its challenges, make the best of life in Russia and work safely towards their dream of added height.
The issue is not the clinic or Dr Barinov - but that the patient felt that lengthening 9cm on tibias alone and to go against doctor’s advice would result in successful lengthening. This is a high- risk gamble.

One of the advantages of doing the surgery in Russia is that you are left to do a lot of the work yourself - this takes a certain amount of guts and courage that can only come from within the patient. It is not that difficult for the doctors to correct ‘standard’ complications - infections, axis etc - using the Ilizarov apparatus or with antibiotics etc. Most patients find that it is not as difficult as they thought it would be.

In relation to the visa, the patient could also - with the help of the clinic admin or on his own account - have taken responsibility and made the decision to leave Russia for a few days within the year ‘window’ (perhaps go the clinic in the Czech Republic or anywhere) and simply return with a new visa.

It is clear that Rgkey was more concerned with chasing girls then in committing to the journey of leg-lengthening and following best practice.

He should have decided to keep his frames on for much longer.

This is not medical negligence.

Maybe the worst misalignments I ever in LL.
It is surely a doctor's mistake than anything else. You must be a completely incapable doctor to have so bad results with ilizarovs.
This doctor should be avoided at all costs.

Rgkey your bones can be fixed but they need a capable doctor and plenty of time because you'll need more than one osteotomies to each leg to fix all the misalingnments.

why would he be in old forum ? and i think the misalignment was caused by too much weight bearing. The video where he was walking with the water made me cringe. I dont think it was dr. barinovs fault he decided to over work his legs while on frames.

Feel sorry for this guy

4 months to consolidate for 9cms is nowhere near enough. He should really have been in his frames for 9-12 months to consolidate but that would test the patience of anyone.

If I were him I'd get them straightened out and 2-3cms taken off. 9cms on tibias is way way too much.

I don't get this. He begged Barinov to take the frames off.. He walked without crutches WHEN Barinov told him to use crutches. Rgkey did NOT listen to Barinov. So Barinov is a bad doctor cause Rgkey didn't listen to him? I truely enjoyed this diary, HOWEVER Barinov should not be blamed when Rgkey did not listen to him and was to busy going on dates instead of focusing on his recovery.

I was thinking that this misalignment was corrected before removing the frame and then it went bad again when Rgkey started walking without the crutches but this is not possible. Correction take place right after distraction so by the end of consolidation his legs should be perfectly aligned. It seems to be the docs fault.

They offered him some kind of a deal to fix it but I dont know whether this happened or not.

Edit
I looked through the diary in the old forum and this is what rgkey said about left leg

"Nice consolidation! To be honest, though, one of your tibiae seems a bit crooked. Do you have any corrections planned in the future? What does your doctor say about the alignment?" - some dude

actually the bone looks like that because of the correction i got. I had some bowing on my left leg and i developed some x on my right after lengthening, so it was necessary to fix to have perfect straight legs))) If you look at any x-ray of people who had deformities before and after their correction, it will look a little like this x-ray. The most important thing is that the axis are completely straight which they are. I had this concern a while ago even when I saw other peoples x-rays and the doctor makes a joke out of it, he says "what do you prefer, beautiful legs or beautiful bones" - rgkey

I think this alignment thing may be more complicated than we think.

This doctor should be avoided at all costs.

Rgkey your bones can be fixed but they need a capable doctor and plenty of time because you'll need more than one osteotomies to each leg to fix all the misalingnments.

Keep strong dude!

See mmmnative's diary. In private I could show you more.

Guys I looked through his diary and his alignment on the xrays and there are few things people should know if they think about LL because ive been reading about it for 5 years and still learn.

1. RGkey actually right after frame removal took some pics of his legs and they looked much better to a point where anyone would have said that his legs look absolutely fine. Then he posted pics of his legs when he noticed that they look totaly messed up and then the new xray. Its my assumption but i think he messed up.

2. After looking at his xray I can confidently say that the standards in which doctors make a decision to take the frames off are totally different(I would say country-wise) As far as i know the is the general guild line to assess when a regenerate is consolidated enough to take all the bodyweight. It would make sense since they did tons of research about it.

3. The reality is totally different. When I was in eastern Europe and did my LL i talked to some ppl and they told me that some other folks got misalignment after frames off and i was like WTF? if bone is consolidates it should be all good. I though they talk crap. I talked to my doc and he said it almost impossible but sometime happens(lol) but usually the frames can be taken off after around 4 months and then 2 weeks in casts(actually cast, leg braces and loosing up the rods need  discussion too but maybe another time)

5. Now im in the UK and my local doc is using TSF frames etc. I looked through my xray and my consolidation is much, much better than Rgkeys when he got his frames off and still my docs insist of keeping them on until front of the bone is  fully consolidated(back of the bone consolidates much faster since its close to you calf)

Conlusion is that:

Russian, eastern Europeans, probably Indians take off frames sooner since patients insist and to a point they got it right because bone does not have to be consolidates form every side to be able weigh bearing. That's why they tell the patients to keep using fking crutches. But those idiots not only stop using crutches but also keep wearing backpacks, elevators shoes etc rather and keep themselves as light as possible.

In western world full of a suing culture they wait till the bone look full consolidated from each side so there is absolutely no chance to get bending or misalignment. Thats why my doc said that when my frames are off the is no need for crutches.

Also there is more to ilizarov frames and correction but im to lazy to write it down.  peace.

As I see from Xrays, the misalignment was there even when he still had Ilizarovs.
If that's true, then doctor really did a bad job.

If misalignment started after frame removal then it is patient's fault but and doctor's too because if the bone bridge is not strong enough by no way the doctor should remove the fixators.

Rgkey may have made things worse, but that was a pretty strong misalignment to have just one month before removal.

I do not mean to disrespect Dr. Barinov (he obviously knows much more about the medical field than I do) but to me, it seems that it would have been best to correct the leg at the beginning of consolidation so that it could have healed in place. I think the only possibility is that the frame itself was faulty.
