Also, growth plates can't be reopened, they just fuse into normal, solid regular bone. The "growth plate" section is gone and doesn't even look like it was ever there.

Still, even if bones can be artificially lengthened in a growth-like manner (replacing distraction to lengthen basically), there's still the problem of nerves, tissue, and muscles unfortunately. Growth is a lot more complex than just bones alone, such a tricky process.
