Bro my heart dropped when I read the 10/10 pain! Praying that you’re feeling better now. Take it easy with exercises etc. What did your dr say about it?

All the best man

Damn Movie, sorry to hear that fam. I would kick back on excessive exercising until the nails out.

I hope you feel better bro, you should schedule getting the rod taken out, because I agree it could have hit a nerve.

Keep us updated bro

Thanks everybody for your kind and encouraging words... pain is much more manageable now, but yes It's the stupid rods because the intense pain was a combination of both hip pain and knee pain by where the screws are so for sure the screws/rods are messing with me still! the pain started as soon as I stepped down from a step, after walking several miles a bit tipsy lol ... but yeah I haven't scheduled rod removal because I can't travel to Greece as of yet, due to covid  :-[, but I'm considering going with Debiparshad for rod removals now if It doesn't seem to clear up by around december/january to go with giotikas, I really don't want these rods in me anymore, and neither does my body.

Did you do anything specific to troubleshoot through the pain? Like any stretches, medication, resting, etc.?

Is there an option to just remove the screws before removing the entire rod?

hey movie
is it that much cheaper to go with debiparshad than dr m?

in theory any old orthopod could remove your nails? couldnt you find a cheaper option at home?

@Movie: I've heard of some possibility of insurance covering rod removal, but no one has ever confirmed. I feel like a lot of people actually stop coming here before rod removal even happens, so we have less anecdotal information about it than the surgery itself!

@brondo, about 4-5 tylenol's extra strength in a period of 2 hours and ice  :o
@Hobbes: I don't think so.
@wannabeidol: Yep Dr. M Quoted me about 21k total, Debiparshad quoted 14k total, in Greece I'd be looking at around 9.2K total (7,800 Euros)
@BelowTheMean: Yes some insurances could remove it but mine wouldn't cover the removal of these cosmetic rods unfortunately.

Movie Dr. D said it was 12k but maybe it’s because I did the surgery with him? I’m not sure. I can probably look into it

Would greatly appreciate if you could ask for me !  ;D

it is, it's crazy that it's higher than Paley or Rozbruch ... but it's the hospital fees he doesn't have his own section in a big hospital like they do or a big clinic like Limplastix.  :o

You got it bro, I asked them. Dr. D does it in a hospital also, Limbplasx isn’t that big it’s a office inside a building. I hit up Teresa, she’s covers financing and she said she’ll ask Dr. D. You’ll be very happy with the whole crew. Dr. D, Ronnie and Teresa are great. I’ll let you know when she hits me back up

Ohh okay they're in a similar situation as Mahboubian then, but maybe hospital fees are cheaper in Vegas than in LA

14K for everyone, or just patients who installed rods with other doctors?

Movie, please talk to Dr. M.  and ask him to give you the discount to make it $12K. I am just afraid you'd go with other doctors, and they are not as good as Dr. M., in removing the stuff, cause only Dr. M remembers exactly how he secured the nails, etc. Even a tiny mistake during removal in the worst case, may create a long lasting pain or discomfort. I would say, nail removal is not a process you'd wanna jeopardize and try to save money on. You have spent a lot of money already. Adding $12K to it would be worth it.

actually pretty much all IM nails are the same. literally any competent orthopod should be able to replicate the exact  same results for removal.

Highly doubt he'd want to do 12K, That's almost the hospital fee alone ... and then he wants a 10K surgeon fee, which made it 21K total... but I'd have to kindly disagree with you on that one, the removal surgery is not nearly as invasive or complicated as the insertion procedure, how hard can it be for any experienced orthopedic surgeon to remove 4 screws on each leg and remove a rod, if they do that procedure very often? I don't think I'm risking it going elsewhere to remove my rods specially if it's a CLL doctor that inserts and removes stryde nails as well... I'd be risking it if I was to go to a third world country and with a regular ortho doctor lol, but I think I'll be in safe hands with Giotikas for just nail removals. I appreciate your concern SNC!

Orthopedic surgeons are prepared for a trauma nail, a surgery after a car accident can easily be way more difficult than a nail insertion with an osteotomy. Surely in Greece you are in safe hands

movie you should see if you can get hardware removal covered by insurance.
im not 100% familiar with the us system but there are instances whereim nail removal should be covered.
like i mentioned all orthopedic surgeons are skilled in nail removal. the only thing youre paying for with a CLL surgeon is their expertise in the management of the distraction process.

Movie Bro,
I know you must have done your research and I trust what you said is correct and this surgery is simple enough that other Stryde doctors would have no problem doing a perfect removal job.
I know you'll do great and I wish you the best.

Hi Movie,

Have your butt muscles returned to the way they were before the operation? I'm at about 1 cm distraction right now, but my butt is already getting flat.

Thanks,

Hi asian,

I am also suffering from flat butt. I hope to get it back with stretching, and eating well after the distraction is over.
