$100K Loan? Is it worth it?
« on: October 10, 2019, 02:09:42 AM »

Hi LL Fam,

I am 27yr male making just about $90k/yr. I am currently 5'5 tall & suffered from Height Dysphoria all my life...Even though I am extrovert and have a decent social life--I feel like I haven't been able to live my life to the fullest due to this complex of mine..I am scared to take out my elevated shoes/heels in front of my friends...avoid going to beach/pool parties just because of inferiority complex..I truly feel gaining those 3 inches would greatly improve my confidence and mental well being.

I have been working in the same company for 3 yrs but have $0 in savings since I have been pretty bad with spending money...I am thinking of getting LL Surgery early next year & thinking of taking out a loan for this surgery..I just wanted to get advice from you all to see if taking a loan for $100k is worth for this surgery?

For me personally, being mentally happy means a lot more than driving an expensive car or living in a big house..I am seriously contemplating to take out a loan sometime next year...

Could anyone share their personal story similar to mine who maybe lookout loan for this surgery....I really don't want start saving up now & wait until I turn 30 to get this surgery... I would really appreciate all of your thoughts on this..

And what if you do get the loan and keep blowing your money and not pay it off? lol

I think It'd would benefit you more learning how to save up in the long run than taking on the loan... take the year or two to save for the surgery if you really want it, the job is not guaranteed after you take the loan, you can sink yourself in an unfortunate situation by doing so, specially noting that you make 90k a year and don't have savings.

I'd save up for a bit and then do LON tibia lengthening with Dr Parihar while staying in one of Mumbai's best hotels. Still only cost 1/3 of the price of going with a US doctor and getting amazing accommodations.

Doctor Parihar had butterfly fracture at osteotomy site of tibia, also osteotomy sites of femurs were very high up
I don’t think he is that good

I mean he has the best rep for bone docs in India and Paley himself says he's good, on top of me having a great result with him 🤗

What did doctor Parihar say about the compartment syndrome you had after surgery?

He got chronic exertional compartment syndrome. The "chronic" part is very important. It is not dangerous like acute compartment syndrome.

How often that chronic compartment syndrome occurs post CLL?

Ok something very rare happened with Dr Parihar patient
This is a sign of alert
Better not ignore it or assume it’s some small problem
Already from X-rays evidence, his level of surgical technique is questionable

Donghoon leave drain tube to release pressure post op at least
But I don’t know how this relates to chronic outcome

I was just like you.

At $90k a year it will be hard to get a $100k loan. I recommend you at least save $20k for ancillary expenses. If you do LL you may be jobless for a while.

I took an 80k loan and had about $60k in savings (I spent $20k of them.. don’t remember exactly). The monthly loan payment is $1350. Can you afford that based on your current spending habits? If not try to make some adjustments.

Don't do it. LL is already a bad idea, but going into debt for it is madness. Just imagine you end up with problems and then have to deal with the debt in addition. Your whole life could become an endless nightmare.

For my exercise induced chronic exertional compartment syndrome, my foot and ankle specialist said it's likely a combination of genetics (since plenty get it without undergoing CLL) and CLL making one susceptible to it after exercise because the stretched muscles have to work harder than before to move the longer bone segment and expand more, creating more compartment pressure. You can't really test for it until you're at a point where you can run though, and most would be unwilling to do fasciotomy until you've gone through an extended leg exercise routine to see if symptoms subside without surgery. It's not something influenced at all by surgical technique, aside from automatically doing fasciotomy on every procedure, but that could create extra pain and such when not necessary as many people don't get it after CLL.

Also, patients with quite solid bone density tend to have a shatter at the site of the osteotomy. Paley has shattered osteotomies as well and there are recent x-rays showing this. It's not a detriment because it creates more surface area for bone healing.

Drain tubes are left to drain fluids and blood. It has nothing to do with the situation with Kilo.

You might have good intentions but you do come across as a shill for Dr. Dong Lee, as i have seen you making post after post questioning every other doctor, their technique and credentials.

I’m actually thinking it’s a sad situation where I can find only Donghoon as a trustworthy for my asian tibias after doing very deep research
We need more experts who can provide meticulous work like he does
Fortunately Im not a native English speaker I get more chance to collect informations from actual veterans and other LL exports, orthopedists etc..which never will appear in English forum like this
It’s simply because there are too many demonic CLL doctors in the world, I keep warning
There are lot more horrifying stories hidden behind this forum
And yes this site is full of shills.  Be very careful when reading
