This is where my limb lengthening journey begins. I will be continuously describing my experience and progress in this thread.

Dec 30, 2020:
  • Had an appointment with Dr. Kozyra at Trigon Orthopedia in Warsaw, Poland. Discussed what seemed to be all the details related to this surgery. The soonest I will be able to undergo it is in mid January 2021.
  • Took an X-ray of my lower extremities; will pick it up on Jan 4, 2021
  • Will have to do some quite extensive blood work 7 days prior to the surgery

For now I have decided to lengthen my tibias for by 6-7 cm using an external device (Orthofix LRS Advanced - http://web.orthofix.com/Products/Pages/LRS-ADVanced.aspx)

Whats the price?

Approximately 81,000 PLN or $21,702.56 or €17,750.64 for both limbs (a single segment obviously).

Based on the x-ray of my lower extremities, I qualify for the LL surgery. There are no contraindications. It will most likely take place on Jan 26 or Jan 28, 2021.

I am planning to lengthen my tibias by 7 cm.

Good luck that is quite a bargain price and it appears to be monorail method for Tibias.

Wishing you the best

My point exactly. I would save lots of time, be able to walk, have much smaller fixators attached to my tibias and would not risk a non union. Would even save some $.

Yes, LON tibias.

Dr Yuksel Yurttash
Isn’t this the doctor from the worst medical tourist company in Turkey, Wannabetaller? There have been so many complains about this company. https://www.instagram.com/p/CItc5szgs8H/?igshid=d81rip84syip ... look at the walk of their two patients, they look like zombies! There is definitely something wrong with the first person’s right ankle. On top of this, there is an account on Ig called “Wannabetallerscam”, which I believe belongs to a former patient that had complications with them. This is the url to the profile: https://instagram.com/wannabetallerscam?igshid=1kwq15xkq0xli . Be very careful when going to places like Turkey. These medical tourism companies hide everything behind the curtains and only show what potential patients would like to see.

What is your opinion about Dr. Halil Buldu? There seems to be more positive feedback from his patients.

Well we have several diaries on him on the forum, the one from Sunshine is imo the best non-biased,he did Precise -2 on his femurs,at home in the US,and it went smoothly, good recover, and he said Dr Buldu was very responsive during all the process and very professional,he gained i think, from 173 to 181cm
Another one is Meck,he made an impressive achievement,at 17.5cm,from 163cm to 180/181cm,both LON on femurs and tibias,cross-lenghtning,that's alarming kinda, because the safe spot for femurs and tibias are 8cm and 5/6cm respectively, the fact that the doctor allows his patients to go above is a bit concerning tbh
They have an instagram,livelifetaller :

https://www.instagram.com/livelifetaller/

A member is actually doing LON femurs with Dr Buldu right now check his diary :
http://www.limblengtheningforum.com/index.php?topic=66007.0

Overall, mostly good feedback, but, not everyone is coming to this forum to make a diary, problem is,two of his patients actually turned employees for him,Frederico and Meck,to make promotion, that's a bit odd,and the problem is that he is advocating for LON method on femurs which seems to be quite hard on femurs, not so much on tibias

Thanks for sharing all this useful info. I was about to give Wannabetaller.com a try but then read a few very distressing stories and started having second thoughts...

If you were to choose between Dr. Yuksel Yurttash (Wannabetaller.com) and Dr. Halil Buldu (Livelifetaller.com), would you choose the latter?

Currently yes,i'll give him that at least,he look professional and caring, but that's also how marketing work right ? He can chose to show only the good patients, wannabetaller is a scam period, but from what i read,Buldu used to be a part of wannabetaller team,so that's a bit scary, and they use same marketing thing,i'm still considering Dr Buldu tbh,at least on tibias for LON,but the fact he recommends it ( it's his most use method ) on femurs and allows his patients to lenghten beyond the safety limits is concerning, try to ask them on whatsapp maybe, but be careful overall,Dr Buldu so far has good feedback, but the fact some of his clients turned into " internationnal advisors " is a bit odd as well, who knows,he could pay some guys in Turkey to play comedy and get some nice videos out of it to build a facade

It is,that's not the point, you're looking for the experience of the doctor and the method he use,as i said,Dr Buldu advise LON on femurs, which is bad,and other trustworthy doctors like Dr Giotikas in Greece don't even consider LON or externals on femurs, and the fact he let his patients lenghten beyond safety limits is concerning
If you still want to go with him,i'll advise you to ask as many questions to him before the surgery, and do it on tibias,or maybe wait to save more and internals, like precise or stryde on femurs for full 8cm

For example, one of his patient,David did 9.4cm LON femurs, that's insane, but he seems to have recover quite good, and he is back to get 7cm on tibias,he has your starting height 168cm and he's now at 177cm and he's looking to go to 185cm

https://www.instagram.com/p/B_K8fdCg6mE/

There is a video of him somewhere showing that not even 1 year after the surgery he was able to run with ease,i must admit it's impressive, but i'm a bit afraid overall, you're going to break your legs,it's crucial to get the best doctor as you can get,i'm waiting to see more from Dr Buldu before considering him,but so far looks good indeed

He's currently doing tibias,so he is back in Istanbul,i would just be cautious, don't make one case the norm,9.4cm on femurs is considerable and not without risk of complications long term

+ 17K PLN (12K surgery + 5K nails) for the intramedullary nails to correct the axis and stabilize the bone shaft.

Oftentimes during the consolidation phase, osteolysis (dissolution of the bone) occurs around the pins, causing slow movement of the bone fragments.

"Bardzo często u pacjentów w okresie przebudowy dochodzi do osteolizy (rozpuszczania kości) wokół grotów co powoduje powolne przemieszczania się odłamów. W tym okresie poprawiamy oś i stabilizujemy trzon kości gwoździem śródszpikowym w celu kontynuacji okresu przebudowy z zachowaniem prawidłowej osi kończyny." - http://trigonorthopedia.pl/wydluzanie-konczyn-aparatem-zewnetrznym

This is not the LON method; I think it is Holyfix. Yes, I will have the LL surgery done by Dr. Halil Buldu.
