its all about confidence
« on: June 30, 2014, 10:45:20 AM »

hello, my name is loris and im 20 years old. im from croatia(small country in the balkans). i dont know how i found or why i clicked on this site but im glad i did. i had to make an account to speak my mind on the limb surgery this forum is dedicated to.

first of all i would like to say im 181cm tall(thats like 5'11 and 1/2 i think) and in the balkans the average height is like 187-188cm(6'1"-6'2"), everybody is tall and a lot of times im the shortest person around. i just wanted to say that you dont need this surgery! guys, it all about confidence, trust me! i could say that i understand your desire to do this but i really dont and im not gonna lie, im just telling you that confidence is the key to everything, and girls(and boys) know it! just play the cards youre dealt and be confident in yourself.

youre all strong and confident men, dont let society standards get to you and brake you. YOU CAN DO IT, YOU CAND DO ANYTHING!

you all have my regards and respect, and if you still chose to go for the surgery thats okay, i hope it makes you the person you want to be. good luck friends!

I don't care if OP is 181cm, which is what many short men like me desire to stand at, but I agree with his point. It's all about confidence. Works for me. I don't need any limb surgery. Guys, try and change who you are as a person to fit in this judgemental society.

Haha yeah I was thinking that too, I don't believe any countries yet have an average that height. I believe I read the dinaric alps to be the highest at about 6'1, or (185.42cm), which if the Balkans were exactly the same, this would mean that the OP is about 4cm shorter than average.

Being 4cm shorter than average in a western country would be a height of about 5'8.5, assuming a 5'10 average. Also this is assuming his average is the highest in the world at 6'1, if it's more like 6'0, then he's only an inch below average, and on a western scale about 5'9. Hope you understand the relative comparison I'm trying to make. OP is not short but may be slightly below average in his country, however his desire to lengthen is entirely up to him and several inches could cure his height neurosis, maybe he just wants to be a tall guy.

Yeah I think I understand what you're trying to say, it's all good..

Man I would feel incredibly short in your country at 5'7, I'm probably at average female height at best lol.

I have to agree with the OP. Yes, majority of the short guys are insecure about their height and compare themselves negatively to their taller peers. But I have seen some short guys who are below 5'5 who are extremely confident, very successful and enjoying life to the fullest. Unfortunately I am not one of them, I have succumbed to the pressure of being taller :(

I am very confident and have a good attitude but being taller will make me even more attractive so... nothing wrong with a little LL on the side!

This pic was taken just the other day in Sweden. Two rival politicians were about to get interviewed by the woman.
Apparently the short guy felt threatened by the taller opponent so he stood on his briefcase.

Taller is power!

Coming here being 181 that is just average where he lives, and not 188, claiming we should all be confident is just ignorant.
Things are the way they are. If you don't like to play the game then sit on the bench and look at others doing it.

---------------

Yesterday I got to enjoy my new height real sweet. I noticed how much more helpful everyone were wherever I went.
I walked in to a store at the same time as a shorter person and the staff both came and asked only me if I needed any assistant.
I wanted new contact lenses and after speaking to the "eye-specialist"(I can't figure out the correct term) they said they had no time until next week. Then she bit her lip and told me to wait. She called up two other stores but there was no time for me at all.
She then just asked me to sit down any way and skipped her current costumer(who was tall, it's Sweden, but very obese) and asked me to try 3 different lenses.
We found out which one I needed and she asked me to come back next week to tell them how they worked.
She then gave me a full month free of charge, 30 contact lenses, and said I could change them if they gave me some trouble.

Can't really tell if it was my new height or new clothes or combination but it certainly was a new experience being treated like that.
It was the most expensive eye-store in town so NOTHING is free in there.

You don't seem to understand the shallow world we, unfortunately, live in.

Some men who go bold tries EVERYTHING there is to keep a head full of hair. They spend several thousand of $$ just to have an illusion of hair.

They don't NEED to do it and it would be much better just to accept themselves.
But life is not just that simple sometimes.

Threads like this are quite pointless though.

We who want/wanted LL dont care if other people find height less significant or if they think it doesnt matter, to us it does matter and objectively speaking it is a factor to many things in life.

Nobody is suddenly going to change their mind about their height neurosis just because a random person says it doesnt matter, especially not an anonymous person who claims to be 181 cm, but regardless it wouldnt matter if it was Tom Cruise saying it, (who obviously is unsatisfied with his short stature considering the elevator shoes he always wears)  we still wouldnt care about that opinion.

I already did the surgery and even though i havent been able to enjoy my new height yet in public (178-179 cm), im already sure nothing could have made me completely happy or content if i didnt do this, no regrets at all.

yeah i guess youre all right, do what ever you want to do as long as it makes you and you alone happy, dont do it for others. i didnt came here to judge anyone, who knows maybe one day ill go for the leg surgery or the hair transplant. .

i can only imagine going from 171-2 to 180 like sweden did, even if you were confident you must be like 10000000000000000000000 times more confident now.

You must be a troll or incredible stupid.

Why do you even think there are forums like these??

Many patient educate themselves far beyond their own regular doctor on this.

Here is my definition of a short man.
You are short if you are as tall as or shorter than the average height of a woman in your local area (country/city/ ...whatever ).
at this height, more than 75% of men  and 50% of women are taller than you bare foot.
Unfortunately we don't walk around with no shoes on.

during times where every one wants to look good, women were high heels and on this occasions, at an average womans height, you will stand shorter than  75%+ of men and 90%+ of women.

So while stats say you are taller than 50% of women, the reality is you are shorter than almost all of them when everyone is dressed up and trying to look their best.

I will never take advice from a guy who is 181 preaching non sense like " its all about confidence".

if 188cm is really average where he lives (even though I think its an out right LIE), at 181cm  he is only 7cm below average and still taller than the average woman. Unless he cllamins the average woman is taller than 181cm (absolute nonsense!).

How a guy who is taller than 5'11 finds these forums and ends up signing up and posting still puzzles me!!

You must really be as tall as your claim because you clearly have no idea what being short is .

okay guys, i was wrong about the average its not 188 its about 184-5 because i live in the area of the dinaric alps, but thats beside the point. a lot of you are acting like  s towards a guy who is just trying to understand and help in a way. if youre this way in real life too, then dont blame height for a lack of girls, blame your   atitude. tipical internet forum, you come with respect and good intentions and you get bashed like a piece of  . to all of you i wish all the best, i can only remember sweden by name without looking(sorry) so after seeing hes passion and desire for this, i wish his dream height comes true(if it isnt already) and i hope you never give up. if something is this important dont let my or anyones opinion come in the way. you only get one life, ride that motherfker till the wheels fall off!

goodbye and good luck.  ;)
