I really dont understand where this average of 5'9 came from here in America.
Every other man I see seems to be 6ft or more.

I am 5'9 and the overwhelming majority of men are not just taller than me, many tower over me.

I'm 5'10 and feeling quite short. Especially young men are so tall. Among young men 6ft is almost average in Europe nowadays. In night life i feel super short but at daytime there is lot more short men around and my self esteem rises back.

Well, it's not just zoomers but their generation is a lot taller I have noticed.
Also,women even in my age group (I'm 37) have no issue in dating much younger men which leaves older shorter guys like me out in the dust.
I never cared much about my height till I immersed myself in Internet culture and dating. I had a sudden moment of clarity and realized something I never even thought about probably affected my life completely.
It was like a smack in the face and a hand around my neck.
I see from your signature you have had LL, has it improved your life a lot? I'm at the height you are now basic and still feel short. Seems like anything under 6ft will be looked at as short.

Like the guy who didn't care about being muscular until he started watching pro wrestling, and starts thinking of himself as a puny wimp who had better dedicate his life to bodybuilding or he will never be good enough.
(That guy was me in the early 2000s by the way. Getting LL and watching what happened to guys I idolized like Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit cured me of that form of body dysmorphia.) Luckily for you at your height, all you need is a reality check to be cured of yours.

Work, school, and hobbies are real life.
That incident actually happened while I was in China. As with all wrestlers, their billed heights and weights were exaggerated. Benoit and Guerrero were about 5'8 and 5'6 in shoes. Roided up to the max to make up for their lack of height.

Then you should focus on those things that you already uncovered to be ignored by yourself instead of distorting the reality like every man around you is over 6ft, which is very contrary to the reality.
Height can just boost up your self-esteem dating pool and maybe occupational opportunities and that's all. Don't get too obsessed with it.
I suggest if you are still unable to get LL just focus on other things and don't immerse yourself in height-related toxic stuffs like men under 6ft are non-human or similar baloneys. They are harmful to your life and you should keep yourself safe, albeit, height is important in modern world, but never can benefit the family, society and world like having good capacities personalities educations etc.

The problem is that height obsession is so damn prevalent. Women are heightists, even obese, unattractive women are obsessed with tall men.
And tall men will obviously play into this as well to boast themselves up.
I am able to get LL but I am hesitant about the pain and suffering afterwards. It's the only thing stopped me from doing it.

You don't know what real height discrimination is until you've been short. Yeah, nobody's going to admire you and love you for your height. Poor you, you'll have to win people over on merit. If you can't handle playing the game of life on normal mode then your problem isn't in your legs, it's in your head.

i did LL yes and it did improve my life. 2 inches aint a joke, it sounds like a tiny amount, and when you put your fingers 2 inches apart it seems like nothing but when you put it on the legs its a completely different story. thats almost an entire deviation upwards
what im very thankful to the entire process is that it made me appreciate many things in life i never cared for before such as
being able to take a sheet and get up from the toilet and enter the shower and have a nice hot shower standing up without having to spend a lot of time calculating your movements and figuring out with which hand should you support yourselves at each step
having a pain free body
being able to go anywhere on a whim and enjoy life and hobbies and socializing
i lost 6 months of my life to this because i kept it a secret from 100% of my friends and family, however in return i got 2 inches taller, longer beautiful tibias and cured height dysphoria for the tiny amount of money I paid(paid like 20k for a 4 month package) makes it all worth it
now if i had to go through this entire 6 month ordeal because of some kind of a car accident without gaining height, i would've been hellishly depressed and angry

I know 5'9 is not technically short, but I wouldn't mind sacrificing half a year to be 6ft, as long as I can make a good recovery.

im doing fine, super tight in the mornings but stretches out as you walk to the toilet to take a piss after that its fine. im 4 months into recovery. i dont see why there would be any lasting negative effects, ive got union on all 4 bones and just need to continue my recovery is all
no need to imagine anything, i got from 5 7 to 5 9. its good enough for me, its 5'11 with my shoes which feels plenty "enough"
yes there are MANY taller guys than me but at that height the difference is not that big so i dont feel immediately threatened and on edge when a tall guy is next to me
for 6 ft you need 3 inches
6 months is for 2 inches on tibia
for 3 inches you need femurs, and internal at that. do not obsess about calculating your bone lengths and proportions and all that . forget about all that. just get your cash together, get a good doc and do it
if youre able to devise a solid plan for working-saving and then having 7-9 months free to focus on the whole process you should do it. or if you have savings already
id have LL instead of buying a 60k fancy car or something. much better return on investment(permanently and for life)

Well Maybe I gotta be kinda cynical here but since this is LL forum it's lack of empathy to cope how bad being short which I also didn't deny but there are more things irl than height and there are more worse things than being short and if u think being short is the end of the world you probablt need serious therapy.
I am not coping just tell u the truth that height should not surpass everything and being short is not the worst thing.
Your mental illness distorts the reality even after LL is done. That's why I suggest therapy prior to LL, not because LL will do psychological screening but also if your distorted mind is untreated it will probably relapse even after L is done

I am 171cm tall and had a good success with women and with career. I am sure though that things would have been better on the dating scene if I was taller. But here I am about to marry to a good looking woman even though according to the fatalists on this forum, that should be impossible because I am only 5'7.5 and below average.
But still, I would never tell a guy my height or especially shorter, that his problems in dating have nothing to do with his height... that is some serious cope

The truth is in between. Saying height doesnt matter is bull . Saying height is all that matters is bull . Height has an impact, especially for guys who are lije below 170cm. I am 171cm tall and had a good success with women and with career. I am sure though that things would have been better on the dating scene if I was taller. But here I am about to marry to a good looking woman even though according to the fatalists on this forum, that should be impossible because I am only 5'7.5 and below average.

The tallest guy I know is 6'6 and a literal bum. He is homeless and on drugs. Good guy, but life got the best of him early on. Probably because he is decent hearted. The shortest guy I know is 5'5. He is a millionaire with many sports cars and homes. He lives the "American Dream" lifestyle and he is also a very shrewd man without mercy when it comes to money.
I do not know how height influenced their lives exactly. My observations are that the big guy was seen as a simpleton and used for his size and brute strength, this probably led to him ending up in bad situations with bad people. The short guy probably was abused and attacked for his stature, making him a bit tougher and resilient. He is into boxing and self-defense and I get the feeling he was bullied.
This could all be B.S., no way to prove it without asking them.
I do not think the shorter guy would be less successful if he was taller. The tall guy would probably have been worse off if he was shorter.
Something that we can not control like height does have an effect on our daily lives. Same thing as skin color. You can not choose your skin color, yet people abused and enslaved others because of it for centuries. In modern day, our society looks down on short men because short men are seen as weak and not fitting the traditional gender role that a man is suppose to play.

IMO:Friendship>Intelligence>Love>Health>Status>Money>EQ>Appearance>Family.
I don't think you know the importances of things prioritized to Appearance in my ranking, or probably you already suffice in those regards and it's pretty normal for people to fixate on things that they lack.
Two options for me:
1.188cm+Intellectual Disability(other things are just average)
2.140cm or even under+IQ well above 160.(other things are equal to those in the above option)
I will run for the second option.

All the younger guys now are tall because we are finally seeing the repercussions of women's "6 feet or more" requirement for their partners. It's producing a taller generation. Pretty soon the narrative will be " 6'4" or nobody" from women. And that will continue the trend. Even middle school boys on average are like 5'8" - 5'10" now, no joke.

Depends on by what you evaluate your own life. If you think, that your life should be assessed mostly by your appearance, then ofc height matters like hell, but there are other things that you can work on that have more meanings if you think life should be judged by your value that you can contribute to the world, then height matters little.
I found out this forum is very demeaning closer to a toxicity because there are only a very few outputs of significant contributions, not to mention positivities. Dumping negativities into public platforms is never a good idea and do something directly to improve your mental healths is what you should do, guys.

Sorry for the offense, it's a bit harsh, but you're telling yourself something that's not true in your case. I think you're just ugly with no other qualities women like to be honest. Height is a thing, yes but not at 5'9". I am a weak 5'10" and i get girls left and right, nearly zero rejection and never had a single girl or even person commenting about my height, i am from Germany btw.
If you have problems at 5'9" nothing will change, if you magically grow a few inches more overnight, you won't wake up a desirable man, that's an illusion. In my apartment complex live some single guys with clearly above average height. 5 are about 6'3" to 6'6" and I haven't seen them with a single woman let alone any social contact in years.
Height alone will not make you more attractive, but it can destroy you if you are too short (5'9" fo sure isn't). Height is a bonus to your overall attractiveness. I never see ugly or average looking but tall guys with very hot chicks here in Germany. But i see hot chicks with attractive 5'8"+ guys tons of times.

At 182.88cm you would be taller than approximately 82% of men
At 183.5 that rises to 85% of men
At 185 that rises to 90% of men
If you're 6'0 you'd be taller than 82% of men
6'1 taller than 90% of men
Between the two, you're getting close to being in the top 10% of height

That is true.
And 'If you do not reach their 6' threshold you can't have kids' per se is an incel ideology, otherwise we will see no men under 6' have kids and all of the men who have kids are 6' in the future which is obviously ridiculous(and who says 'If you don't reach the girl's standard you can't have a relationship with her? Of course only when you are too deviated from their stereotypes of an ideal partner and even in this case there are still some possbilities that you can date with them. Just think about it. Every girls want a 6'1, jacky, and rich guy to be her partner, so all of the guys out of line with this stereotype are phased out of the dating pool?), and dating =/= marriage. There are many toxic girls now who would like to have 30cm height difference which will of course disgust some tall men because they will take into account the 'contamination' of their genes.
So genetic selection will not increase the average height(the reason why Netherlands increased their average height that much by genetic selection was that the government imposed the policy that short men could not have kids onto Dutches brutally so of course the gene pool improved. But clearly in nowadays Democractic world, if the government replicated this policy it would invoke a protest. Even China and N.Korea would not like to enact such stupid policies.
And, the West is a massive venue of immigrations, which means the countries which are 'suffering from' the immigrations of races with lower genetic average heights are being detered from getting taller.

180cm is not tall all over the world, its average or slightly above In most of the world, only tall in shorter countries. but at 180cm if you still have height dysphoria I think there is a deeper cause to your issues.

You don't take into account a lot of African, Southern Asian countries, Southeastern Asian countries, and Middle-East Asian countries, etc.? Even 165-170cm is a respectable height there.

im not doubting this stat, it just doent give you the classification as "tall" just being above average doesn't make you tall, just like being below average doesn't make you short, you have to decently far in either direction

I guess that's the result of gen x women refusing to procreate with a man that is under 6'2". I live in the midwest.
