Alexander Technique and height increase?
« on: February 11, 2021, 03:57:48 AM »

Has anyone ever heard of this and/or used it? Apparently many practitioners get a height increase usually because of the fact that it improves their posture and reduces spinal compression.

It could very well benefit us after CLL with posture and mobility.

I'm looking to do all I can to boost height and posture prior to going under the knife with regards to lengthening limits. Much as I would love the maximum lengths possible I realise this won't be possible based on a variety of factors.

I hope you realize stretching doesn't grow your leg bones, only your spine. It will not increase your lengthening limits in terms of % of bone if that's what you're referring to lol. Don't worry too much about lengthening limits anyways, it's a suggestion that is almost always can be surpassed without much issues.

Yeah obviously I knew that re: it doesn't stretch the legs. But I mean it's about being realistic about the femoral and tibial lengthening also given my diabetes (which is very well controlled) but I also need to keep an eye on my kidney functions with regards to pain medication therefore might have to endure the pain with lower strength analgesia or potentially take ACE inhibitors I don't know for sure. I am aware of one surgeon who has operated on someone with kidney issues and has been successful so it is possible. It's just a shame with Covid I can't visit these clinics and ask the questions I need to ask.

What's your height and goal height? Is LL not enough for you? Once you do these mega stretch routines, you have to do it for the rest of your life if you want to keep the gains.

Goal height? As much as possible without looking stupid and/or causing harm. LL would certainly be enough but one can never have too much of a good thing unless it's fried chicken.

I'd take an extra inch or so from AT right now if I could. The more I can get with everything combined with LL the better.

It would really suck to have a height neurosis after going through LL and a neurosis that makes you have to stretch for hours a day to maintain some extra cm gain. The purpose of LL might be to rid that neurosis. Eventually one will want to wear lifts and then aspire to be 6 foot, go through another LL, then more all to get back to square one- height neurosis stays

But there's only so much height you can gain from LL not to mention the costs and in any case we lose height naturally as we age. Doing exercises and stretching for posture has benefits other than a small height increase in any case.

Same with women I noticed. I girl relatives all sit higher than us guys and they are al 5ft or so. I do think that no one cares about sitting height though.

Me too.

I've always had anterior pelvic tilt and weak core

Last year during lockdown I did a lot of core work at home.

'Grew' over 1.5 cm.

I stopped doing it the last few months and seemed to have returned to old posture.

Getting back to reversing it now.

That's massive. What core exercises did you do?
