Advice I'd give my 18 year old self
« on: November 17, 2021, 12:24:54 AM »

1. Pretend that height is not a thing. Pretend that girls are not a thing. You will need money if you want to someday do LL. Your career, managing your money, investing. That is your focus.

2. Do not wear lifts. I don't think they are good for your legs/joints for some people. You'll want healthy legs if you want to do LL someday. Regular big winter boots with flatter, more uniform heels (not just thick at ball of foot) are probably fine. Google positions of legs/knees that damage them slowly over time. Do some basic stretches / leg exercises to keep your legs healthy but don't spend too much time on them.

3. Forget girls in college chasing tall guys. Forget the negative comments directed towards short men. Here is what matters if you are in college: your classes, going to office hours, learning about how to study more efficiently, going to the career office to prepare for internships/prepare your resume, networking, selling yourself.

4. If you have not done so already, get a credit card. If you think you might be tempted to overspend/miss a payment, get a credit card maybe from Chime or some other companies that have built in safety measures that prevent you from overspending/have software that makes the card act functionally like a debit card. This will build your credit, make it easier to get loans down the road, make it easier to get credit card signup bonuses/etc

Keep your mind occupied with these tangible goals and keep improving your ability to become financially independent. Keep your mind busy so that it does not have time to think about being short.

Hey OP how bad did you damage your knees with shoe lifts? I've read it causes additional wear on the joints but didn't think it was that bad.
