Hi everyone, I’m new to the forums. I’m from NY and I’m planning to get this surgery by early next year, since I need to save up and financially unstable at the moment. I’m between 5’4 and 5’5, roughly 164cm-165cm, and I have been basically bullied and harassed my entire life. As a child-to pre-teen I was a descent height for my age and my pediatrician even told me I was growing at a descent rate and would be taller than my dad by few inches, which he was between 5’9-5’10 at the time. Unfortunately I stopped growing at 14, I’ve been abused, physically, mentally and mistreated by, teachers, students, coaches through my child-teenhood and throughout high school and as an adult targeted even more cause of my height. I’ve faced tons of rejection, discrimination and more harassment on a daily basis. It’s been rough :( and this procedure means so much to me. So I’m considering getting this done. My goal is to reach from my current height 5’4-5’5(165cm) to about 5’10-5’11(182cm) roughly.

I was planning to go to Dr. Reif in NY. I saw his interviews and I really enjoyed them. Are there any patients that experienced him?

Can anyone tell me their experience if anyone has gone from 6 inches or even 7? What was the process like?

Thank you,

Not many people understand me. But I’m going forward with LL. It’s not easy, haveing spent most my life as a 5’4 guy when everyone on my family is much taller than me. Everyone outside, including co workers, bullies from my past, and most girls who all tower over me. I’ve told myself how risky this can be, but I missed out on so many years where I could’ve been taller, I’m still facing discrimination and bullying almost daily. It’s very challenging, especially when you’ve been a passive guy your whole life and at 5’4, it just makes it more impactful. My goal is to reach 20 cm so first I think what I’ll do is go for 8cm on tibias first, then add the extra cm with another doctor.

I will suggest not going 20cm really. Proportions matters! other wise you will look odd

Lim Chang-moo, head of the NewBORN Orthopedic Surgery Department in Korea, has 5,000 cases of height surgery.
How many doctors do one doctor have 5000 cases?
NEWBORN Orthopaedics is undervalued, but I think the surgery is the best. And the price is cheap.
He's the only doctor who can talk to the patient on his personal phone

Everyone here didn’t come by chance. One way or another, we’ve all faced the same problems.

Hey man, don’t worry we are all on the same boat. You can use the search function to see past patient experiences here.

You can be taller but you should set your expectations set straight. 20cm is not possible. The maximum amount you can gain without severe risk is 14cm(8cm femur + 6cm tibia). 12cm (7cm femur + 5cm tibia) is a safe maximum. You would go to 5’9”.

I would temper your expectations about what's possible. 20cm is an extreme amount to length. A more realistic goal would be something like 2 inches on tibias and 3 inches on femurs which would get you to about 5' 9". At that height, you'll be perfectly average and in good shape.

Honestly, even just doing 3 inches on femurs will take you to 5' 7" and even that will be a world of difference from where you currently are at. Good luck!
