What's your inseam to height ratio?
« on: March 25, 2015, 05:52:47 PM »

Hello All,

I measured my true inseam (pubis bone to floor) not my pants inseam (balls to ankle), and my ratio of inseam/height is 47.7% which kinda sucks because the average man has a ratio of 46.5%

My inseam is 33", and height is 69"

Above 48% is considered "long legs", and before 45%  is "short legs"

What's your ratio of true inseam/height?

45.2%

Once I compared my legs with a 5'10" girl, and surprisingly we had the same leg length.

45,2%

Not sure about that 48%=long legs

If I would lengthen 7CM my ratio would be 47,5% and they look would very long, in fact I wouldn't do more than that solely because of my proportions. Long legs look good on both men and women, but all things in moderation.

This is how you measure it btw. Take a thin book and shove it up your crotch like this

I guess all of you guys have legs either short or on the shorter side. Sucks to be me :(

I agree. My father was all legs, he wore a 36" inseam(so probably 38" legs in total), I am 4 inches shorter and wear a 32". He was very talented in combat sports due to his long reach(his palms alone hang halfway down his femurs) and ability to take long strides. Long legs only look feminine when you have traits like a small ribcage, short clavicles, wide hips, or short arms. He relied on striking, not sure how well he would have done in something heavy on ground combat like MMA with his high center of gravity and all.

At 47.7%, I don't think my legs look "very long". They are definitely noticeably longer than average, but I actually think they look good aesthetically at my current ratio.

Unfortunately, once you start getting into that 48% to 49% range, they start to look very long

Right and that's exactly what you do when you wear 3CM shoes. There seems to be kind of a cutoff at 48% because when I wear long pants and walk on my toes (+7-8CM) My proportions look surprisingly good, but when I add shoes to that I start to look pretty awkward.

48% is the upper bound of the normal range, but 49% should be the absolute cutoff IMO. If I decide to do CLL, I will not go passed 180CM, as that will keep me just under 49%

After 7cm's my ratio would be 46,2% so my inseam to height would be 86 to 186 in cm.
I guess I could go to 186 without having weird proportions, my wingspan to height ratio would be -3 then. How far can you go above the wingspan in terms oft height?

No consensus about wingspan, mine is naturally 4CM shorter than my height.

You are good with wingspan dude. After -1 inch ape index is where you may run into problems, but I doubt you want to lengthen over 11CM.

Based on your current inseam/height and wingspan, I can't think of a better candidate for CLL, as you will look more proportional after. MDOW has an insane 42% inseam/height before lengthening, so he was also a great candidate

Still, I don't think people are measuring true (cycling) inseam correctly, as it seems unlikely that nearly every respondant has a 45% or less inseam/height.

Hi,

My inseam: 82cm
Height : 170.5cm
Sitting height: 88cm
Wing span: 182cm (I have broad shoulders)

My inseam to height ratio is 48%. I just want to do 4cm which will put me to 49.2%. would I look odd with proportions at 49.2%?  I wear 3cm heel and perfectly look normal.

Am I measuring my inseam correctly? I measured exactly as mentioned here. It seams my inseam and sitting height make up my total height( 82+88=170)?

I have a 27 inch inseam and I'm 67 inches tall. That's a ratio of about 40%.

The height from the floor to the bottom of my balls is about 46,5% of my height. Is that considered long-legged?

Inactive post, but by having a book properly up to a wall while holding the book with an arm, I got a ratio of about 47,5 %. No wonder my legs look proportionally quite long.
