Hey Hanna,

Glad to hear about your progress, even a little progress is great. I want to ask you what Dr. Betz told about the crutches, when you will be able to move without them? Is it a couple of months during consolidation or something like that?

I will ask him on friday, when we take new x-rays. He told me in january that I could walk unaided by the end of April. But I'm a very careful person and will wait what the x-rays show on friday and then again in 6 weeks, before I risk to walk without crutches too early.

My latest x-rays showed that I had a little discrepancy of 2mm left, which I corrected by now. Only thing I have to do now, is stretching, stretching, stretching and being patient.

Interestingly my x-rays show about nearly 1cm more distraction than I expected from my clicking count. When I was measured, I was already 1,66m although I can't stand straight because of the duck-ass I still have. Maybe I will even reach more than 1,67m, I will let you know, as soon as I'm able to stand straight and measure correctly.
The nails and screws are ok and my next x-rays are taken by the end of April. Till then I keep on walking on crutches. I keep you updated.

Hanna,

Could you post a video of you walking on crutches wearing shorts, you can hide your face and only show yourself waist down. I want to see your proportions and femur and tibia ratio.

Amazing how big money can lessen the pain and complication.

I think women should only lengthen the femur. Maybe it's just me, but I find women with long femur sexy. As for guys it would be freaky.

I guess it won't help you that much, because proportions are different in each person. I met a guy who did 9cm and he looked way out of proportion, but then on the other hand I saw a girl with 10cm who looked completely fine.
And I have to agree with Bullsurfer, longer and leaner femurs on girls don't look as weird as on a guy, actually long legs are considered attractive on girls.

This in a picture of my legs I made today. I've got the impression that my muscles are (slowly!) coming back and as a positive side effect the proportions look better when the thighs are less skinny.
I guess it's an advantage that I had sturdy legs before surgery.

Can you please post a pic with your legs completely straight (ie no bend at the knees?)
To me it seems like you have some x-legs.
Especially your left leg looks a little bad.

No, you are right, I have slight x-legs, but already had it before surgery.
It could be corrected in a tibia surgery.... Maybe in a few years..

Hanna, it's just how the 2 *knees* of yours look so different that worries me. Your left knee looks a little strange. What do you think?

That's because of my former leg length discrepancy. I had to lengthen my left leg more than my right leg and have still an asymmetry left in my hips, you can see it on the picture. The body needs time to adjust, I lived with 2 different legs for 20+ years. Also I can't straighten my left knee completely, yet. It takes time. But I'm working on it with my physiothetapist.

Today a girl compliments me on my height, she called me "tall". That's so great and still so unfamiliar, to be considered as "tall". Today is a good day!

My flexibility is getting better, my knee bending is almost gone, my duck-ass is still there, but a little less noticeable and I can bend my knees about 140 degrees without any pain.

And today my exogen 4000, that I bought on eBay, arrived and is ready to be used.

although I have good bone growth I want to help my body heal.

Yes, I feel stronger. Today I went for a walk in the park (still on crutches of course), and it was not as exhausting as 4 weeks before. It's very important to be active during lengthening and especially during consolidation.
Yes, I can wear everything, especially my new jeans :-D the shopping costs shouldn't be neglected when you save up for LL... ;-)

hey hanna! im glad your are doing better!) it is good for you to always look back maybe few weeks and see your progress))) i could not see much progress day by day but when i looked back maybe one month i saw significant progress and that also motivated me!!)) it gave me hope that in another month it would be another big step)) if i look back 3 months, i see my walking video and i could barely make a step, its unbelievable my progress, but again i can not see my progress day by day)) hang in there.

question thou)) i want to buy some jeans online but i dont know what size to get now after 9cms.. so since we actually grew about the same amount))) could you tell me in terms of jean sizes how different it is now, or how longer are your jeans now i mean from size to size. i dont know if we use the same units, before op i was using 30 size jean in length, now i have no idea))

Do you notice your femur being proportionately longer than tibia. Is it noticeable? Not too much worried about proportion but curious how you see yourself on mirror.

Yes, I can see it, but I guess I can get away with it very well. I originally planned to do 7cm but at this point everything looked very proportionate and I had no health issues so I decided to go further. It doesn't look like +9cm, otherwise I had stopped earlier because I do care about proportions.
But concerning the recovery time it might have been more reasonable to stop at 7cm.

At around 6 weeks into recovery my legs feel good, strong and much more flexible. Only issue is my duck-ass and lower back-pain when I stand or walk longer. Although there was an improvement at ~ 4 weeks post lengthening, I don't see much progress the last 2 weeks.
I keep you updated and try to stay positive and patient.
