I will be flying to Moscow tomorrow, I simply cannot wait. At the same time, I am so nervous.

I will be doing external tibia, but I might be doing external femurs. I will see what doc says.

For external tibias, what is the general recovery time frame? I know everyone is different, but give  me a range?
a) walking WITH crutches (not walker)
b) walking WITHOUT crutches, like a disabled, slowly
c) walking WITHOUT crutches, normally
d) frame removal (for 7-9 cm)

My second question: how many mg of calcium do I take everyday? Now I am taking 600 mg.

My third question: How many hours of walking a day should I do? I know as much as possible is probably the answer, but what is the minimal amount? I will try to hit that amount.

Lastly, what painkillers do the Russian docs prescribe? Is it opoids? Tramadol?  I heard NSAIDS hinder bone growth (though some studies show otherwise).

At this point, I almost feel like turning back. With lifts I am easily 180 cm, but I really wanna do this; its always so awkward taking off the shoe-lifts And once i reach 181-183 cm, and with lifts, I will be easily 185-188cm?

I'm 173-174. I'm actually about average for an asian country. With lifts, I'm about 10-15th percentile.

I'm quite apprehensive actually, being Asian in Russia. I look a little mixed, but not that much.

180cm for a LL patient is quite good, because LL patients at their new height look taller and leaner than their counterparts

Your starting height is already good, getting to 180cm+ will be great. How long do you plan on staying in Russia for?

Nope, I have a visa agent in my country and they handled everything for me. i got a single entry, 28 days visa. i can always fly back to my country and get another visa.

You will NOT be able to get a visa with the letters of invitation provided from the clinic in my country(though someone else managed to get it done... i dont know how)

I just finished my op! About few hours ago. I'm glad pain is only 1/10! The nurses and doctors are kind and I was wondering if I can get fast food delivery? Is it normal to feel so hungry..?

did you have external tibia surgery? I was not that hungry right after my surgery, but I was able to eat about 50% of my lunch just a couple hours after surgery. I guess everyone is different.
Good to hear that you are not having much pain. Do you have epidural right now?

I've no pain at all though i can move my legs, yes epidural but I slept when they injected it as I was under propofol.

The nurse told me to tell her if it's pain, strange I can move my toes now n feel my tibia but no pain

My tibia is only about 9 cm shorter than me femur so dr said lengthen 7 -8 cm!

Update: I've my computer set-up now, and can type better than on iPad.

I am so happy I did this surgery. I can about 5-6 hours after my surgery, and now it is 11 Pm russian time.

I can move my knee and ankle, and I can stretch and do dorsiflexion

I asked the nurse is it OK to do dorsiflexion now she says I'm good.

No painkillers yet..... and the pain isnt really there..

But then again, after surgery most people feel pain but I feel almost nothing!

I want to know are you generally physically active? that could explain the varying degree of pain one feels. I remember when goodfootballer wrote his diary with Dr. Salemah he experienced minimal pain as well.

You have already completed step 1, now stay strong for the next few months and you will be taller in no time!

Ouh, I had the same problem. Ask a nurse if she can help you to transfer to the toilet, maybe you can pee there (I assume you should pee in a bottle?). Maybe you are just not used to peeing in a bottle or the painmeds/anesthesia can cause also that.

An urinary catheter is uncomfortable as hell, I hope you don't have to go through that!

I had my operation end at 4.15.

The pains start to come about 12 midnight, probably because I was moving my ankles and my knees a lot.I know its insane but the nurse said its good, and it wasn't realy uncomfortable either.

I stayed awake from 4.15pm after surgery until 3-4 am when I felt so horrible, like an impending sense of doom. I guess I was dehydrated or malnourished, though I really ate soooooo much earlier. Or probably I was feeling cold. low grade fever of 37.6 degrees C and apparently low blood pressure.

The nurse was really attentive to me. And I felt so bad to disturb her!

Feeling better now. I wanna update more to give back to this community. I've learnt quite a lot here.

I heard that they give footholders here in Russia too!

I find it hard to sleep even with no pain.

The doctor advises against taking sleeping pills to sleep!

I had two epidural shots yesterday and two epidural shots today. The pain is bearable even when the shots ran out, but I thought, why not eliminate all that pain. It will be worse later!

Anyway the epidurals aren't very good for you either. They impede urine! Makes it very tough to urine. i had to think about peaceful thoughts.

Pain is 5/10 when epidural wears off. More of an irritating, annoying, dull pain instead of sharp pain, which is a relief.

Different people have different threshold. I am an athlete so I think I healed faster.

Walked to the toilet and back without any problems today. and I can even stand without holding anything while urinating and stuff.

I intend to lengthen 8 cm, from 174 to 182 cm (morning height, for 3 hours)

I am thinking, 1-2 cm is not much. Why not just wear shoe-lifts? Anyone has similar thoughts? A 1-3 cm shoe lift will easily make me 185 cm, which is as tall as Obama and many basketballers.

I think the nurses here are really nice but Anna is very curt and business-like, which I find pretty nice too!

So, no asian discrimination. But I am from Singapore, a pretty developed country with a GDP per capita higher than the States, one of the Asian tigers, so to speak!

I don't know how they will react to people of other asian nationalities though. Especially since China and Russia don't really  like each other.

Pretty cool place! I think they are friendlier than Americans though I have never been to America. Russians don't fake anything. If they are unhappy, they just show it. But thank God most of them were friendly to me!

But maybe I have a high nose bridge and asian mixed caucasian features! So they think I am half European/American.

I don't think Russians like Americans or Europeans either, so I think it does not matter so much.

The night, tonight was so painful. I had to have so many painkiller injections to my epidural line.

LL is NOT for the faint-hearted, and is NOT a stroll in the park. I was prepared for the pain, but I was never prepared for this amount.

I think, the problem is, I try to bear with the pain for the first two days (which according to the nurse is the worst). But once the pain hits 6-8 out of 10, I really have to inject.

Why? The pain is constant pressure, and sometimes it feels as if my leg is cut into two pieces. A very horrible feeling. It is as if, many bugs are feeding on my legs.

It is not a nice feeling. I know, I subscribed to this. I am whining, yes, but at the same time, I am not sure how common is this process? Does everyone have this problem?

I am not whining because once pain med is injected, the pain is mostly gone. But I just try to control, and avoid the injections.

It turns out that I was not used to peeing in a bottle. I never did well for those kind of things in the army as well. So strange to pee into a bottle. I can only pee in the toilet or jungle. And furthermore, this epidural injection really makes it so difficult to pee!  But I believe, once you "get used" to the epidurals, you can actually pee. It is in fact, easier to pee, when the epidural wears out, so do try to do that (ie, before you get the next injection)

I just had an epidural some time ago (it is 7.30 AM here). And the ant-biting sensation is still on my legs, like hundreds of ants

Thr contract says to pay 420,000 roubles

I paid 7500 euro. According to russian banks it amount to 501,000.0 roubles.

Anna said she will return me the change.

Which means I will get back about 81,000 roubles

Now they wanna vary the contract

They got someone to speak to me and Anna doesn't even dare to see me for the past two days

She is very curt and business like, not friendly at all.
