Hi everybody
Last week I had my dreamed operation of leg lengthening in Milan with Dr. Pili.
This will be my description of my experience.

Some info about me:
I am 30 years old man 163 cm tall (or shoes I should say).
I am aiming to get 8-9 cm taller within the next year.
I am using HEF.

With PILI, as I clearly say in the title

But your question is not that silly! I am seeing Catagni for my first consultation in May as Dr Pili is away.
They work closely together as he also says in his site.

I chose Pili over Catagni because he is more easy to get in touch. He has an assistant that helped me finding an accommodation where to stay.
In addition he promised to do my femurs later if I will not be happy with 8-9 cm.

Congrats on choosing a great doc!

With regards to femurs, how many cosmetic surgeries has he done (internal precise) for femur lengthening?
Did he give you an idea on the cost for femurs?

i am not sure to choose italy or guichet. i am going to do 4 cm so i can reach 170+. my friend say doing lower leg look better than upper leg but i want to learn english more so england will be my choice. also i do not like scars

I did not ask this question!
But he says he will do it as second procedure if I ask later after this LL, in case I want to be even taller!!!!

He says around 10% of LL patients ask for a second lengthening to the femurs with nails. Considering he does around 30-40 aesthetic LL a year I believe he does 3-4 with nails a year! But this is my thought!

He promised me he would do it for a special price on me if I request later and promised 5 cm!

I believe lower leg looks better too! People with long lower legs look taller than people with longer femur!

4 cm would be so easy on tibia!
If learning english is your priority than I understand you... And obviously you don't have budget problems!!!

I saw a few patients with frames at the consultation. A girl getting her leg straight, a child and another couple of guys but I am not sure they were there for LL.

I went back home after 2 days. But I was offered the option of a nearby place.

An update...
I am doing fine.
The worst day was actually the second day when I was still in hospital. I had some strong medicine given by doctors and that's it.
Now I have some pain but nothing serious.
I walk around in the house but my legs feel very weak, with a funny gummy like sensation.

I hope you guys know what I talk about!

Dr Pili explained me that with HEF there are no big complications and after 2 days it is safe to go home.
If I have a problem I can contact him and he will tel me what to do.
If I have to come back I will get a train to Milan or Lecco.
I know people doing the same from much more distant.

It takes me around 1 h by train or 1:20 by car to get to Milan.
HE gave me the option to stay closer but he actually said it is never been an issue to be distant. He has patient from abroad as well as the far south of Italy where it would take up to 5-6 h to drive to Milan.

I think they are both great surgeons and use the same technique.
Unless you want to have the option of lengthening your femurs after tibia, just go by your deep felling, you can't get it wrong either way!

I was under the impression that the doctor wanted us to stay nearby for the distraction phase at least (3-4 months)

The Frames look really massive. Even more massive than the ones they seem to use in Russia.

How is sleeping at night with these things on your legs?

Dr Pili told me to do some exercises, very simple ones. He also sent me some videos to see how to exercise.
He told me I will do physio with some proper therapist just if needed.

He was perfectly happy for me to go home as far as I am able to come back and see him when requested. He told me there are no major complications needing urgent attention when using HEF technique and therefore as far as I am a few hours away it is perfectly ok by him.

I asked the same question the first time we met with Dr Pili

He told me they are lighter as they are made with carbon fibre and in fact they are extremely light!

In fact he sowed me some old fashion classic Ilizarov and they weight far more!!

He also explained me they are more stable as carbon fibre is more rigid and possibly this is the reason why they are more accurate and grow bon faster

First nights it was weird to feel my legs hanging from the frames but aster I got used.

Pain the first day was not too bad. It was mainly the difficulties walking that was uncomfortable.
The second day the pain was worse! As apparently I was walking too much!!!

Now it is fine and I take pills just now and than.

I spoke with some of other patients before my operation and they had different stories thought!

Some took pain killers continuously for almost the all first week.

Dr Pili told me pain was an issue with the old fashion Ilizarov because it moves too much but with HEF it is far bearer.

It does fill quite rigid, but the first couple of days I felt like I was walking on a jellyfish!
